March Wedding Reception – Hog Roast Ullswater

There are some fantastic views in the beautiful town of Ullswater and some very romantic settings for a wedding. The wedding that we attended on Sunday was no different, having a wedding in March can always be a risky choice but luckily the rain held off, it was a breezy day but that didn’t matter as the reception was being held indoors. We arrived to prepare the pig for the wedding breakfast before the guests had entered the room, on this occasion the venue had decorated the room and we provided the crockery. The room looked fantastic and we set up in the bottom corner of the room, we were next to two large French doors where the view was beautiful, luckily they were shut to keep the winds out!

The menu option that they chose was wedding menu 3, this is a relatively formal choice and as the couple and the guests arrived we had canapes and a drinks reception served. The main was served as a buffet, we had a spit roasted pig alongside the BBQ option as this is always popular with the children. The sides and salads were prepped as the guests entered and as everyone arrived and found their seats the pig was very close to being fully cooked! On the spit roast the juices were showing and the pork was tender, yet we still had our perfectly cooked crispy crackling. The food was served and went down great with the guests! We are catering at more and more weddings each year as a hog roast Ullswater is an excellent way to please all of the guests while being very cost effective as we don’t charge per head.

Before serving the dessert we stood and listened to the brilliant speeches! With the guests refreshed on new drinks we started to serve the desserts to the table. The couple opted for our homemade cheesecake and chocolate torte which are our personal favourites too. What’s better than finishing off a hog roast Ullswater with a deliciously sweet dessert? Dessert is always the course I look forward to the most at any meal, as most people say, there’s always room for dessert!

We love catering for weddings as it is an unbeatable atmosphere and usually always a substantial number of guests, we had catered for 150 guests in total and we didn’t have one complaint!
