Hog Roast Whitwick – Surprise 60th Birthday

It was a lovely crisp February morning. The day had come for Steve’s surprise 60th birthday party. It was a foggy day where the fog just sat low to the ground and looked like a scene from a mythical film. A surprise party was to be held in Whitwick. The local golf club was chosen for the venue. The fog could be seen lifting from all across the golf course, making a lovely backdrop for the venue to be held. Steve’s family had chosen the perfect venue to be used. A function room which holds 500 people would be just the ticket for such a special occasion. The room was to be decorated in Steve’s favourite colour, which was purple. Balloons and banners had been ordered and table decorations with purple sparklers were placed on each table. We at Hog Roast Whitwick were booked to do the catering for such a special man. Steve was a well-known fund raiser in Whitwick so there had been a lot of people to invite. We decided to use our Platinum Hog Roast machine as we were feeding such a large number of guests. A large pig was slowly roasting in the bottom tray, while new potatoes and seasonal vegetables were being cooked in the top tray. 350 invitations had been sent out to Steve’s family and many friends.

As Steve was a very popular man it wasn’t hard for the family to find an excuse to get him to the golf club. He was told that a fund raising auction was taking place at the golf club and would he mind being the auctioneer. This was used as the reason to get him to the event as the family knew Steve wouldn’t say no. The guests started to arrive late afternoon and the room was starting to fill with the lovely aroma of the pig as it slowly cooked. Everybody wanted to see how the food was being cooked. There was music playing in the back ground and a lovely atmosphere could be felt all around the room. The birthday boy had just arrived and the surprise went down very well. The music was turned up and the hog roast Whitwick food started to be served to all of the hungry guests. The pig was cooked to perfection and lovely seasonal vegetables and potatoes accompanied it beautifully. There was plenty for everyone, the party was a fantastic success. We cleared away many empty plates and left the guests to enjoy the rest of their night.
