Surprise Sixties Celebrated in the Lakes with Hog Roast Keswick

Turning 60 gets a bad name. We tend to think of it as the age that transitions is form adulthood into elder, but as we at Hog Roast Keswick have seen many times, and as we did so again this past week with an excellent surprise party, 60 may as well be the new 30!

Coming that close to retirement age, there is all-new life to be found in your sixties, and that is worth celebrating. You may not be as spritely as you once were at 30, but you’re about to have a whole lot more time for rest and relaxation, so it all balances out in the end! Proving just so, Hog Roast Keswick were delighted to come out to the incredible Lakes on the invite of Lucy, who was looking for catering for her mum’s surprise 60th party. A trip to the beautiful Lake District and a surprise party? Count Hog Roast Keswick in!

Hog Roast KeswickHeld at the immense Low Hall The Lakes venue tucked away in a wonderful corner of the North West of the Lake District, Lucy played host to a perfectly executed surprise party for her mum. Believing that she was just coming out for a relaxing getaway, Lucy’s mum may have received the shock of her life when a little over 40 of her friends and family were crouched waiting for her arrival – along with a delicious Hog Roast Keswick spread too, of course. In our books, that may be the real surprise worth celebrating!

It was a modest but excellent spread the Hog Roast Keswick team had prepared for the 44 guests in attendance. We had made sure to cook our hog roast earlier that day before mum’s arrival (which our Hog Roast Keswick chefs were able to do with an awe-inspiring view of the Lakes throughout the morning) so that come surprise time it was already hot, finely shredded, and ready to go! We also had plenty of homemade sage and onion stuffing to accompany, too, along with our BBQ pulled jackfruit, and veg and halloumi skewer alternatives.

We’re led to believe that Lucy, her mum, and co partied the night away, proving just so that 60 is no age at all to be settling down quite yet!
