Christmas Hog Roast, Cox’s Green.

It is quite unusual to have an event on a Monday. This was however a job that we had done previously and we therefore had an idea of what was going to be required. We arrived on site at a little before 7.00am for the hog roast near Cox’s Green. We were greeted by the local health and safety officer, whom we had met before. Fortunately we had completed all the necessary paperwork before the hog roast Cox Green event. We set up in the car park as before. Once we had set up there seemed to be an endless stream of ‘Good Mornings’ to all the staff that were in for 8 and then for 9.00 am start. We had plenty to do and so we may have missed a few!
The menu was slightly different to our usual pig roast, a festive one with Spit Roasted Turkey, stuffing and freshly made cranberry & orange sauce, and of course a light stock gravy from the juices. There were also a selection of buttered vegetables and cauliflower cheese. A true feast for Christmas. Service was at midday and so there was no time to hang around. Especially since we were serving from the first floor in their canteen area. As before there were three sittings, although each would be over about 10 minutes before the next was due to start. All went well with a minor panic that the sitting numbers were slightly different from last year. Fortunately it was only a matter of trundling up and down the stairs to fetch supplies. The weather was a carbon copy of last year with rain just making it slightly trickier. It seemed there were more people this year and we can only put this down to the word spreading, of course. Once we had done the last service it was a matter of cleaning down and packing everything back up. Fortunately, we were only an hour’s drive from base.
