A massive weekend over the bank holiday for the entire Spitting Pig team as well as the Hog Roast Warwickshire chefs and servers. Our franchise has been catering in the events industry for several decades now. In that time we have always championed fresh British produce and farming, making sure to utilise the very best for British farming for every one of our hog roasts.
So, then, what a privilege it was to be invited to one of the biggest weekends in all of British farming – The Great British Farm-Fest. For an event hosted at Jeremy Clarkson’s very own Hawkstone, you know it was a who’s who of British dining and farming, with bands, celebrity guests, and hundreds of VIPs for the full weekend. Catering for those VIPs all weekend long – the Hog Roast Warwickshire team!
We have had the privilege of catering at Clarkson’s Farm going on several years now. We’ve been to the Diddly Squat Farm and The Farmer’s Dog in previous years, but this was our first visit to the incredible Hawkstone – and what an introduction it was! As we arrived on Friday we were amazed by the stage set up and our own staging area, nicely shaded from the blazing heatwave, where we would be catering for over 200 guests.
As we were going to be returning over all three days, we planned out different menus across the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Each was a menu of incredible British meats that Clarkson would be proud of. For Friday, to kick off a sunny weekend, it had to be our classic gourmet barbecue. Chicken kebabs, butcher’s sausages, gourmet burgers, plus plenty of refreshing side accompaniments to help guests cool off throughout the event. The Saturday saw even more heat, both in the weather and our dining, as the Hog Roast Warwickshire served up our sizzling southern slow roast menu, complete with brilliant spice rubs and smoky barbecue marinades. Closing out the weekend, a fitting Sunday roast with our signature hog roast providing the main event to a perfect farm event.
