As a hog roast caterer I am always looking for new ways to improve my food, always trying out new ideas and fresh recpies. This is another fun and rewarding aspect of being a hog roast caterer. I enjoy trying different glazes for the hog roast or different marinades for our spit roasted chickens and other meats. I also love to invent new side dishes such as my own creative salads or original potato choices to go with my tasty hog roasts and other spit roasted meats.
Today my self and another fellow hog roast caterer are having a bit of a taste test as we try out new things for our menus. The office staff are extremely pleased about this as they get to sample the goodies and give their opinions which means they don’t need to bother buying any lunch today!
So we will be busy today cooking up and tasting many new treats then we will sit down and discuss what we think worked and what we may start offering on our menus and using at our catering events.
Over my many years as a hog roast caterer I have tried many different glazes on the pigs and the best tasting and most popular one always remains the same, the Spitting Pig secret recipe glaze. Its magic ingredients are only known by myself and a handful of other hog roast caterers. Come and try it for yourself I’m sure you will be amazed at the great taste!

Love must be the air at the moment as we have more enquiries for wedding catering then ever before. Every day more and more happy couples get in touch with us asking for menus and quotes for our tasty food on their special day. Today we have had four different couples confirming their booking and paying a deposit for us to come and cater at their wedding in 2012. It seems a wedding hog roast is more popular than ever which is great news for us.
Had a very special confirmed booking today. A young local couple who’s engagement party we catered at last week has finalised the date for the wedding and asked us to cater. Its great to have repeat bookings and we are very excited about this particular catering job. They have requested a simple wedding menu (our wedding menu one option) which is great quality food but also nice and relaxed and brilliant value for money. This will consist of spit roasted lamb with all the trimmings served as a sit down meal for the wedding breakfast. Then later on for the evening buffet they have requested one of our hog roast party menu. A great choice and we will make sure its as perfect as all of our other wedding catering events

God afternoon to all our loyal blog readers out there! It’s Friday the 25th of March 2011 and the weather is surprisingly good once again lets hope it stays this way and it will be a beautiful weekend. Before the weekends parties and weddings begin I have lots a my “to do list” to get done. Part of my role as a hog roast caterer is to find only the very best ingredients to be used in our hog roast feasts. So I a\m off to the local farmers market today to stock up on some yummy produce. I visit the same place at least once a week as their home grown produce is always such great quality. As a hog roast caterer I am always in need of fresh fruit and veg to make my sauces, salads and other side dishes to compliment my amazing Spitting Pig hog roasts so I am a familiar face to the farmer and his helpers. Can’t wait to visit today and see what treats are available and have a cup of tea and catch up with the farm staff.
After this it will be time to do a final check before setting off to the first event. The final check includes making sure we have all ingredients we need, plenty of crockery, napkins and cutlery (we always take lots of extras just in case!) then its a quick brief with the team so everybody knows what they are doing. Then its time for this hog roast caterer to hit the road and let the hog roasting begin.

Morning to all our Hog Roast lovers out there- well what have we got lined up this weekend!!!
March has been a busy month for us delivering machines, collecting them and also booking our customer’s in. As the nice weather is now apparent, numerous customer’s seem to be opting for the BBQ menu’s where they can relax in their own gardens with one of our Qualified chefs making sure the food is thoroughly cooked and tasty for all to enjoy and help themselves. This Menu includes 100% beef 6oz handmade burgers and our Chef’s own gourmet sausages, chicken kebabs and meaty marinated spare ribs. We also do Bespoke Menu’s where you can add or change to make it more personal.
We are catering for a couple of Weddings Saturday and Sunday where they are having the Wedding Breakfast, Spit Roasted Lamb with all the trimmings and our professional waiting staff to serve all of this. We are dressing up all the tables and setting out the crockery and presenting the tables with wine and water. So the bride and groom and all their guests have no worries when arriving at the hall. Over the years we have built up a fabulous friendly team that know what they are doing and even though it will be a very long weekend we are a happy bunch and always willing to help with a smile.

Glorious sunshine again this morning- I have managed to get all my washing on the line before work today. From our office we can hear all the Lawn mowers whilst answering all the calls we are receiving about booking in a hog roast for the summer.
Our pricing team are busy amending the Menu’s and attaching the prices to them based on our customer’s information.
We are currently getting a lot of calls and enquiries from TV crews that want to pay for a cooked Hog to star in the shows they are filming(even though it may never actually get eaten). There is so much variation in the events we cater for and nothing ever seems to amaze us when our customer’s are holding something outrageous. It is all work for us so we never complain, and its extra experience for all the staff that attend these. We are always happy to help with any enquiry so do not hesitate to call or Email us.
We have all our equipment on hand so you really would not need to worry about a single thing we can literally take care of everything. Put your feet up and relax and enjoy the Spitting Pig experience. Go on !!! you know you want to

Good Afternoon to all of our Spitting Pig blog readers, its Tuesday the 22nd of March the sun is shinning bright today and Spring has certainly arrived. The Spring season means the beginning f our two favourite things, beer garden season and of course hog roasting season. Obviously we can do a perfect hog roast all year round whatever the British weather may bring (as we can cook indoors or outdoors as well as providing gazebos and portable heaters) but the there is something extra special about a hog roast is the warm weather as the sun shines down brightly. It seems we are not the only ones looking forward to some summer hog roast events as the enquiries are flooding in from our customers enquiring about summer hog roasts and barbecues. One of our customers has lots of events planned for the month of July as she is holding various parties at her large home so she has booked our services every Saturday in July, that’s right she will get to enjoy one of our amazing hog roast menus every weekend throughout the month of July! She said she could not think of an alternative party food that could possibly compare to one of our faultless hog roasts with all the trimming. So thank you to Mrs Waters for the huge compliment and the bookings in the Summer, we are sure you will be sick of the sight of us by the time we reach the month of August. All the talk of a Summer hog roast is making me hungry most go and grab some lunch!

Good Morning Spitting Pig blog readers, Its Monday morning once again and we are back in the Spitting Pig office for yet another fun filled week!
Turned on the computer this morning and as well as receiving hundreds of enquiries I have also had the pleasure of working my way through lots of thank you emails from our satisfied customers. It’s always a pleasure to get feedback from our customers and I am happy to report that as always all the feedback we have received to today is positive and full of praise for the food and service we provided.
One happy customer in particular has even sent us a bottle of Irish whiskey to thank us for the work we did on Thursday evening. This event was a very special one as it was to celebrate St Patrick’s day. It was at an Irish pub in the city centre not too far from us. The family who own the pub are originally from Dublin and they celebrated St Paddy’s in style. They requested our services to provide some tasty food to help soak up the Irish whiskey and pints of Guinness which was being consumed by the hundreds of customers. We treated the celebrators to a hog roast as well as some of our special BBQ catering. Both the hog roast and the BBQ catering treats went down a storm and it wasn’t long until they had polished off the lot!
Afterwards the invited us to stay and join in with the celebrations so we enjoyed a pint of the black stuff with our very satisfied customers

Great start to the day today, up and raring to go today. The staff in the office have a certain glow to them apart from Ian who is under the weather and feeling sorry for himself(man flu)!! It seems to be a little quiet today on the call lines and even the Emails today but it always tends to be at the end of the week. And with the gorgeous weather outside all our customer’s are probably out enjoying it whilst it lasts, so it is understandable that its quiet, yet the rain keeps people indoors and more calls and enquiries for us.
This weekend we have a massive wedding Church event that we are catering for, they have asked for the famous Hog Roast as the main attraction and then a BBQ option with Burgers, Prawn skewers and chicken kebabs. We are also serving this with our fresh mixed salads and soft floured rolls. We are catering for 5000 people so everyone will be hands on deck after the event to clean up all the disposable plates and cutlery. Not sure what they are celebrating apart from the Birth of Christ and embracing their religion. You get to learn a lot being a caterer and attending all these different events people hold. Also it makes great conversation in and out of the office for days.

Later on tonight I shall be catering for 200 people at a charity event where it is a sit down event with I am sure there will be a few familiar faces that we have see on our TV screens at home- this is another perk to my job being a Hog Roast caterer.
I will be taking my experienced waiting staff along to help serve drinks as the people arrive and also serve the canapés. I will be preparing all the food from fresh using the finest ingredients and adding some of my extra touches to the plates as decoration- the presentation of the food is just as important as the taste!! At every event I cater for I always like to make a big impression.
I shall be there from about 12pm today to set up and make sure the food is slowly cooked to perfection by the time the guests arrive and that the food is served on time. No doubt the room will be filled up very quickly and the speeches for the great cause will be given. At most charity events there will be a raffle drawn too I expect. Hope the guests enjoy the night and most of all the food!!
It will be a long day but well worth it and I think all that attend will think exactly the same as me.
