The adventures of the spitting pig team.

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Another busy weekend for the team at Spitting Pig.  Claire went to Essex and served a pig roast for 120 people in a marquee for a 40th wedding anniversary with the rest of the food and the bar provided by a large London catering company. We are always happy to work with other caterers if requested and as such we can do as much or as little as our clients require.

Adrian went to Knowle on Saturday for a 30th birthday party. This was for a customer from last year   and it’s always lovely to be asked to go back again. In fact a lot of our business is from word of mouth recommendation which speaks for itself. The guests enjoyed a spit roasted pig with apple sauce, stuffing and succulent crispy crackling.

George had a busy day in London serving a hog roast with all the usual accompaniments to a party of 350 people. All went extremely well until the journey home when he had a puncture near Oxford and they were unable to shift the wheel nuts. Thankfully just minutes after the disaster an R.AC. patrolman just happened to be passing and managed to sort them out! Just shows what you can do with the correct equipment.

On Sunday Spitting Pig Central went to Buckingham for a party for a couple who were emigrating to Australia. 200 people turned up to say goodbye and enjoyed the spit roasted pig, salads and new potatoes served by the team. It was great fun with a bouncy castle for the children but obviously tinged with sadness at saying goodbye to so many friends and family. We wish you both well in your new life down under.

A hectic day today, catching up with all our office work and enquiries and getting ready for another busy weekend. There are machines to be delivered to Woburn tomorrow for hire, a visit to the cash and carry to be made and numerous other tasks. The glorious weather we enjoyed on Saturday has long since gone and we have unremitting drizzle which is good for the garden but not much fun for anything else. Hopefully it will cheer up before next weekend   and all the events booked for then.

The first van to depart from the depot on Saturday went to Beaconsfield for a lunch time party serving a spit roasted pig with the usual accompaniments of stuffing and apple sauce. Nearly a disaster as on arrival our chef discovered that the motor would not turn properly. Help was at hand however and a new motor was delivered to him within the hour. In the meantime he patiently turned the roasting pig by hand and lunch was served on time!
