 Gas Service
As part of the complete package that we offer here at Spitting we offer each and every one of our customers the chance to have their machines serviced year round both at our factory and at their premises. In the winter months we run a special offer which is as follows
Between the 21st of February 2012 and the end of March 2012, our Gas Safe (Corgi) qualified technicians will travel to your premises and conduct a thorough service, leaving your machines ready for the onslaught of commercial use during the Spring and Summer of the up-and-coming year. The service leaves your machine complete with a 12 month Gas Certification; something which is legally required for caterers to operate in the public domain.
The prices are as follows but are excluding the cost of parts and VAT.
1st machine serviced on your premises £125.00
2nd machine serviced on your premises £200.00
3rd machine and thereafter £75.00 per machine
So this really is a reminder that this week is the last week to book onto the servicing before we starting travelling around the country. All we required is at £25 + VAT deposit to book us in, this is deducted from final service cost. So give us a call today on 0800 587 5899.

Friday is always and exciting day here at Spitting Pig. The majority of the jobs we do are predominately on either a Saturday or Sunday. We still do jobs midweek and they are often at a fantastic price but mainly our work in on the weekends. We spend most of the week ensuring that we are fully prepared for the weekend but it all tends to come together on a Friday. We usually start the day with a group meeting of the events that are on this weekend and who is working where, we then go and load our respective van and print off the necessary paperwork. We like to arrive on site as early as possible, sometimes that means setting off super early but we’d rather be safe in the knowledge that we have more than enough time to prepare your fantastic meal. This weekend I myself am going to be catering just north of the Scottish boarder that’s the great thing about this job every day is completely different. Really looking forward to this weekend, I’ll be back in touch to let you know how everything went on Monday.

 London for the Weekend
Hello everyone its Monday morning and I’m back from an exciting weekend of hog roast catering. One of the most interesting things about this weekend was the fact that Spitting Pig was working right across the country this weekend. I mentioned this on twitter @Spitting_Pig on Friday and this provoked a response firstly with regard to food miles and carbon emission. Spitting always have and always will source food locally, and we do this by having depots throughout the country. Having this infrastructure also allows us to respond quicker and allows us to give the customer a better service because the Spitting Pig chef attending the event will be a local chef with great knowledge of the area. We also reduce carbon emissions because we don’t have to drive miles and miles to each event. I guess what I’m trying to get across that Spitting Pig is a local business. Once we have taken the initial enquiry and got the quote sent out to you the very same day, we are more than happy to put you in touch with your local Spitting Pig chef. This will give you the opportunity to ask any further questions you may have. Also because we are local often on large events such as weddings we will like to make site visits, that way we can have a look through how everything will run on the day to make sure when we arrive there will be no unwanted surprises. You can even discuss with your local Spitting Pig chef the food and therefore you can guarantee that you are getting local sourced products. So after a truly exhilarating weekend it time to get back to what we do best in the office and that’s providing a service for a customers. Stay in touch this week as I’ll be having an interview with one of our most experience Spitting Pig chefs George.

 Hog Roast Wedding
Recently we have had a significant amount of enquiries all asking the same question. Can you come and cater for the evening buffet at my wedding. Yes of course we can. Here at Spitting Pig we have some beautiful wedding menus that are extremely popular, but we understand that sometimes weddings have a more relaxed feel and that catering is only required for the evening buffet. That where one of our menu 1, 2 or 3 options comes in handy. These are fantastic hog roast buffets that won’t break the bank perfect for the evening catering at a wedding or indeed any function. And of course as with every Spitting Pig booking you get the complete service of a hog roast expert chef and their waiting team being on site preparing your food from the finest and freshest ingredients. So take a look at our private party menu options for your special day

 Catering at the Weekend
Wow, that certainly was an exciting weekend, I was working on two events this weekend one for a small private party on the Saturday for a hog roast in Cardiff and the other a corporate event on the Sunday for a hog roast in Oxford. Both events went fantastically well and luckily because of the crazy weather that swept the country this weekend they were both indoors. We arrived on site Saturday morning very early; we didn’t need to travel far but after checking the weather we decided better to be safe than sorry. The team and I set up at the venue and erected a gazebo just outside the hall we were serving to cook the free range lamb. That’s what a lot of people don’t realise about Spitting Pig, sure we cook amazing hog roasts but we also offer a vast array of other meat options and we always prepared something fresh for our vegetarian guests. We got the lamb underway and added some fresh rosemary and garlic to give it a bit more flavour. We then set about setting up the serving tables and preparing for the service. We were super ahead and we didn’t want to prepare the salads or bread too early as we always like everything to be as fresh as possible.
We service was great everyone commented on how great the lamb was with the mint sauce and we made sure that there was enough for seconds and even thirds in some cases. We tided everything away and left the guests to enjoy their evening entertainment. We were travelling down to oxford to liaise with another Spitting Pig team and complete a bigger event together. We have catering teams all over the country and we got some rest down at the Spitting Pig Central base. The Sunday went without a hitch and it wasn’t before long that we were on our way home safe in the knowledge that we had done a great job.

 Installing the new phone lines
Firstly apologies to anyone who tried to call the office this morning between 10am – 12pm, unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control our phone lines were temporary down because of our move into the new office. But I’m delighted to say we are now in and am up and running. And what a step up it is. The offices look fantastic and the views into the countryside are incredible. Also don’t worry none of our emails were affected and Helen is busy sending out all your catering enquiries as I type. Another successful week with regards to Catering, four big events on over this weekend all went fantastically well and it’s nice to see a few emails thanking us for our work. We have quite a few jobs booked in for this week including a hog roast for a birthday in Kent which looks fantastic, we are providing the full catering service, canapés, starter, main course and deserts for just over 100 people. Apparently there are plans for a live band, ice bar, and chocolate fountain which sounds great. 3 of our finest chefs will be on hand all day with their serving team, and hopefully I’ll get the chance to go down and take a few video to put up on our website. I’ll be back after the weekend to let you know how it all went.
Have a great weekend

 Olympic Parties
Another fantastic morning in the office, we have been busy booking in a lot of jobs for the summer. A lot the events we are booking in seem to coincide with the Olympics in London. However the events are all over the country, so it seems the whole country is getting in the spirit. Just this morning with have had deposits from a event in Lincolnshire and a event in Manchester all aimed around the Olympics. So if you’re thinking of having a hog roast for an Olympic make sure you get in touch quickly as dates are booking up fast right around the UK.

 Weekend Events
Most outside caterers tend to take things easy in January. The weather coupled with the time of year means that a lot of businesses tend to wind things down. However Spitting Pig is an established brand and we are the number 1 hog roast caterer in the UK, this means we are kept busy all year around. Just take a quick look at the picture above this was an event in Oxford this weekend that had a wide western theme for a local hotel. We served up a traditional hog roast menu 1 for the guests but they also wanted a barbeque to suit their western theme, so we cooked steaks, sausages, and burgers, all with our special monetary jack cheese and homemade barbeque sauce. We finished everything off with thick seasoned potatoes wedges and three different salads. Even though it was a bit cold everything went down an absolute treat and lots of the guests commented on how great the food was, which is always nice. It’s even better to walk in to the office this morning to this email.
“Just wanted to say a big thank you for the catering this weekend, I know the weather wasn’t the best but your guys went above and beyond what we could of imagined.”
It’s great to know to we are out there every weekend doing a fantastic job.
