Wow, that certainly was an exciting weekend, I was working on two events this weekend one for a small private party on the Saturday for a hog roast in Cardiff and the other a corporate event on the Sunday for a hog roast in Oxford. Both events went fantastically well and luckily because of the crazy weather that swept the country this weekend they were both indoors. We arrived on site Saturday morning very early; we didn’t need to travel far but after checking the weather we decided better to be safe than sorry. The team and I set up at the venue and erected a gazebo just outside the hall we were serving to cook the free range lamb. That’s what a lot of people don’t realise about Spitting Pig, sure we cook amazing hog roasts but we also offer a vast array of other meat options and we always prepared something fresh for our vegetarian guests. We got the lamb underway and added some fresh rosemary and garlic to give it a bit more flavour. We then set about setting up the serving tables and preparing for the service. We were super ahead and we didn’t want to prepare the salads or bread too early as we always like everything to be as fresh as possible.
We service was great everyone commented on how great the lamb was with the mint sauce and we made sure that there was enough for seconds and even thirds in some cases. We tided everything away and left the guests to enjoy their evening entertainment. We were travelling down to oxford to liaise with another Spitting Pig team and complete a bigger event together. We have catering teams all over the country and we got some rest down at the Spitting Pig Central base. The Sunday went without a hitch and it wasn’t before long that we were on our way home safe in the knowledge that we had done a great job.
What a Weekend
February 6th, 2012Spitting Pig – New Dawn
February 3rd, 2012Firstly apologies to anyone who tried to call the office this morning between 10am – 12pm, unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control our phone lines were temporary down because of our move into the new office. But I’m delighted to say we are now in and am up and running. And what a step up it is. The offices look fantastic and the views into the countryside are incredible. Also don’t worry none of our emails were affected and Helen is busy sending out all your catering enquiries as I type. Another successful week with regards to Catering, four big events on over this weekend all went fantastically well and it’s nice to see a few emails thanking us for our work. We have quite a few jobs booked in for this week including a hog roast for a birthday in Kent which looks fantastic, we are providing the full catering service, canapés, starter, main course and deserts for just over 100 people. Apparently there are plans for a live band, ice bar, and chocolate fountain which sounds great. 3 of our finest chefs will be on hand all day with their serving team, and hopefully I’ll get the chance to go down and take a few video to put up on our website. I’ll be back after the weekend to let you know how it all went.
Have a great weekend
Olympic Tuesday
January 24th, 2012Another fantastic morning in the office, we have been busy booking in a lot of jobs for the summer. A lot the events we are booking in seem to coincide with the Olympics in London. However the events are all over the country, so it seems the whole country is getting in the spirit. Just this morning with have had deposits from a event in Lincolnshire and a event in Manchester all aimed around the Olympics. So if you’re thinking of having a hog roast for an Olympic make sure you get in touch quickly as dates are booking up fast right around the UK.

Weekend Events
January 23rd, 2012Most outside caterers tend to take things easy in January. The weather coupled with the time of year means that a lot of businesses tend to wind things down. However Spitting Pig is an established brand and we are the number 1 hog roast caterer in the UK, this means we are kept busy all year around. Just take a quick look at the picture above this was an event in Oxford this weekend that had a wide western theme for a local hotel. We served up a traditional hog roast menu 1 for the guests but they also wanted a barbeque to suit their western theme, so we cooked steaks, sausages, and burgers, all with our special monetary jack cheese and homemade barbeque sauce. We finished everything off with thick seasoned potatoes wedges and three different salads. Even though it was a bit cold everything went down an absolute treat and lots of the guests commented on how great the food was, which is always nice. It’s even better to walk in to the office this morning to this email.
“Just wanted to say a big thank you for the catering this weekend, I know the weather wasn’t the best but your guys went above and beyond what we could of imagined.”
It’s great to know to we are out there every weekend doing a fantastic job.

Professional Friday
January 20th, 2012Today we are celebrating one of our favourite but little known machines, the professional. A lot of what Spitting Pig does with regards to the machine is centred on a commercial operations and our Titan and Zeus ranges. However every year we sell a fantastic number of professional machines, these are generally to small businesses and the general public. The professional is basically a smaller version of the titan. It can cook anything up to a 45kg pig which is perfect for feeding 50-60 people. It is available with all the usual attachments, hog kit, spit kit and BBQ set and of course is affordable. It won’t be long before summer is here and the professional makes the perfect addition to any pub, shop and restaurant or back garden. So give us a call today and we will send you over some more information.
Hitting the Ground Running
January 10th, 2012Great news for Spitting Pig this morning after speaking with my colleagues we have looked at our records and it’s official the first week back in January was a record breaker both in terms of enquires and with regards to the number of booking we achieved. We are booking up fast for the summer as excitement continues to grow around the London area for the upcoming Olympics. However what is most surprising is the number of bookings we have taken for January, only yesterday we took deposits for a hog roast in Edinburgh and a wedding in Kent. It great to see such interest at the start of the year. It honestly has been all systems go here you can see from the picture above the sheer number of enquires we are getting. We have even had to welcome back Steve into the office to help out. So its a great start for Spitting Pig in 2012, long may it continue.

Hog Roasting in 2012
January 3rd, 2012
Hello everyone and a happy new year , we are all back in the office this morning and I thought I’d take a bit of time out let you know about our events over Christmas and our new plans for 2012. While most companies shut down over Christmas and the New Year for Spitting Pig it is one of our busiest times. We had lots of office parties, new year celebrations and events right throughout the month of December and of course we were all working New Years Eve making sure people got to taste the delights of freshly roasted pork as they welcomed in the New Year. I’m happy to say we have 100% feed back from all of our events, so I’d like to thank all the chefs from Spitting Pig who selfishness sacrificed their New Year celebrations to ensure all of our customer went home happy. Its great to come into the office to nice emails like this one from Antony and Michelle from Birmingham who booked a Spitting Pig Menu 1 for their new year celebrations.
“Hello and a happy new year, just wanted to send a quick email this morning to let you know that the boys from Spitting Pig who came to cook for us on New Years Eve were absolutely fantastic. They arrived on site early and took care of everything, all of my guests were amazed at a freshly cooked pig rotating on a spit. I’ve never been so popular and I think its safe to say it was all down to the quality of food. So I’d just like to say a big thank you again and wish you all the best for the New Year”
So what’s new for 2012 at Spitting Pig? Well. hopefully 2012 is going to be one of our best years every. The London Olympics coupled with the Queens Jubilee means there are going to be lots of extra events running this summer alongside our usually busy schedule. That’s why January and February are going to be important months for us here in the office as we have a lot to do to make sure we are fully prepared for rush.
It seems we have come back to a busy morning in the office the phone has been ringing none stop this morning as it seems everyone is back to work and looking ahead towards the summer. Make sure you take a look at our specials page this afternoon as I’m going to be making a few exciting changes that might tempt those of you having a party in the next couple of months.
So from all of us here in the office we wish you all the best for the new year and we look forward to hearing from you soon

Turkey Special
December 21st, 2011Hello and welcome to the first Spitting Pig blog of the week so far its Wednesday the 22nd of December 2011 and what a busy week the catering team have had so far, they have been out on the road all this week and last heading out to private parties and corporate events bringing the festive spirit to all the Christmas parties that they have been part of. Turkey has been one of the extremely popular meat choices this month and with only 4 days before Christmas day it is at high demand for the parties that we have left to cater for this week, it seems that machine hires are extremely popular for over the Christmas period with many companies deciding to keep them up until new years eve saving them a great deal of money catering for more than one event with the same machine.
