An American Themed BBQ To Raise Money For Pendleside Hospice

DSC_0300It was a pleasure for our Hog Roast Burnley team to cater at the Business First Burnley offices recently, for an American-themed BBQ to raise money for the incredible Pendleside Hospice. The event was arranged by Jim from JSA Psychotherapy, which is one of many local businesses taking part in Pendleside Hospice’s Corporate Challenge 2018. This annual challenge, now in its third year, is where each business starts off with a £50 fund and they have four months to turn into as much money as they can for the hospice and in order to do so on this day, JSA Psychotherapy was organising a barbecue, a tombola, and a delicious cake stand from Amy’s Homemade Baking and there would be an amazing opportunity to win a gorgeous Mini too. The American theme on this particular day was very apt, as it was July 4th – American Independence Day.

When Hog Roast Burnley arrived at the Business First Burnley offices, we were all very tempted by Amy’s Homemade Baking stall, which featured loads of brownies and cupcakes, rocky road cake and even various savoury pies. The red velvet and peanut butter and jelly cupcakes looked especially scrumptious! We set up our equipment and began preparing the meat to be barbecued, which included burgers, hot dog sausages, chicken skewers, and ribs, with vegetable and halloumi skewers for the vegetarian guests. We also had plenty of soft bread rolls and a variety of sauces too and with all this food, no one would go hungry at this excellent fundraiser.

Hog Roast Burnley was kept busy barbecuing loads of lovely meat throughout the day and for the skewers, we were busy chopping onions and slicing pieces of halloumi, courgette, peppers, and aubergine. The food went down really well and everyone who attended the barbecue made a donation to the hospice in return for their yummy food, with JSA Psychotherapy raising lots of money.
