Spitting Pig Latest News February 2012
Well it’s February (unless you’re reading this in March, in which case it isn’t February) and we’re continuing our new year streak of success with a second record breaking month, eclipsing all others. If you read our January blog you’d have read that January 2012 was our best yet, and February 2012 turned out much the same. Bookings and enquiries by phone and email have flooded in at an unprecedented rate.
In our last news post we touched on the number of enquiries we’d been receiving for Olympic 2012 parties, and we’ve probably had more interest in those in February than we did January! Our summer calendar is filling up exceptionally fast with all that’s happening in 2012, and we’re advising all of our readers to get on the phone and making a booking, if not an enquiry, today, while we’ve still got vacancies. Come the end of March we expect to have filled up most weekend slots for the Summer, so better to be safe than sorry if you’re thinking about booking Spitting Pig this summer.

And in keeping with the theme of the upcoming British celebrations, another in-demand booking for the coming months has been for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, which will take place between June 2nd and June 5th. It’s a significant British holiday and there’s going to be plenty of good food and drink consumed over the holiday, and who better to cater for your Diamond Jubilee party than Spitting Pig. We’ve still got a few empty spaces for the Jubilee celebrations and if you call us today we can have the tastiest, juiciest British hog roast lined up for you, your friends and your neighbours.

But that’s enough about future events, I’m sure you’d much rather hear about what we’ve been getting up to this month. As we mentioned briefly in our last news post we’ve been planning for a short while to move into a new office and we did so in early February. The new offices are much bigger than the last and it’s far easier to work in, sitting just beside beautiful countryside views, including a calm river that’s only metres away from where we are. It’s great to get out and breathe in the fresh air in between work, and has helped the team to relax and be more efficient with our work, especially with the inside of the office being so nice, and having personal offices and state-of-the-art computer and phone systems to work with. All in all it’s a wonderful indication of how far Spitting Pig has come and the significant progress and growth we’re seeing year after year.

Aside from relaxing in our new countryside business abode we’ve been busy hog roasting at various events across the country. February was a busy month for weddings and we’ve catered for lots of those, and they’re always enjoyable and events we love being at. On a related note the romantics amongst you might have realised it was Valentines earlier in the month, and we were kept especially busy on Valentines Day. In Ealing we’d been booked for a 25th Wedding Anniversary for a couple named Frank and Emily, and the whole event was a sight to behold. The venue was stunning and everything you could possibly want from a venue, and there were just over 100 friends and members of the family in attendance.  We cooked up an extra-special hog roast dinner that was just amazing, and so many of the guests were eager to tell us how good a job we’d done.

We really got around in February; another hog roast we cooked was for a party in Cardiff for a small group, we went back to basics at that event with the timeless classic of a hog roast sandwich, the delectable spit roasted pig in appetising bread rolls, with the chefs apple sauce. We also saved the exact same menu for an Oxford hog roast the day later. We used the most amazingly fresh pigs that you could find and roasted them to mouth-watering perfection, with a crackling that took both dinners to the next level. And so blown away by the hog roasts were both parties that they’re considering using Spitting Pig again when they next need party catering.

And I almost forgot the event we did just last week, in Liverpool, for another party. It was a really exhilarating event that was headed up by one of our oldest serving chefs, James. It was an American themed party for one of Liverpool’s most popular sports bars, with the food being served to British American Football fans and casual drinkers in the establishment. We pulled out all the stops to make the Western themed menu the best we’d done and from all reports everybody was absolutely blown away by the standard of food and the idea behind the catering.

February has been a really good month for us, with many events catered for and so much interest coming in for future events, and with a new office and everything else it’s probably the best start to the year in memory and despite posting record numbers in 2011 it seems we’re on the right track to go better still in 2012.
It’s not just catering that’s being booked in record numbers, oh no, the hog roast machines we use are also being hired out a lot this year and for the London Olympics and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee hiring a machine is well worth consideration. Hiring a machine is a real bargain at only £200 an event and it’s anyone’s to have. Everyone has it in them to hire a hog roast and make it their own, because they’re effortless to use. You can learn more about the machines, as well as our catering, by taking a peek at our ‘Machine Hire’ and ‘Menu’s page.
And remember, if you and your friends are trying to organise your own Olympics party then let us know so we can make a booking while there’s still spaces.
